The European BOO Jury – Meet the Members
This year, the European BOO jury will consist of representatives from prestigious European festivals in the Netherlands (Cinekid Festival), Sweden (Uppsala Short Film Festival), and Finland (Tampere Film Festival).
Meet the members:
Chloë van Baar is the programmer and producer of the Cinekid Festival – the largest international film, television and new media festival for children. She was born in the Netherlands. In 2018 she graduated with a BA in Media and Culture from the University of Amsterdam and in 2020 she got her MA in Film Studies. Starting out as an intern at the programming department for the 2018 festival, Chloë has now been working as a programmer and producer for Cinekid Festival for five years.
Sigrid Hadenius is the Festival Director at Uppsala Short Film Festival. She has been part of the festival since 2011 and has extensive experience in the film and culture industry. After working as the Industry Producer at Tempo Documentary Festival, she served as the Festival Producer for eight editions of the Uppsala Short Film Festival. Her primary focus has been to develop the festival’s industry events, and since 2023, she has been Head of the National Competition. Sigrid has a background in art history (Uppsala University) and film studies (Stockholm University).
Jukka-Pekka Laakso has been the festival director of Tampere Film Festival since 2002. As a festival director he shares the responsibility to strategic planning and programming with a co-director. He has been a member of more than 70 juries in various film festivals. Jukka also acts as the executive director for Pirkanmaa Film Centre in Tampere. The film centre is a non-profit organisation that runs an art-house cinema, distributes films in Finland and works extensively with media education.
